Just a quickie -- stopped in at LF Chai last night and was randomly awarded a gift card, so I bought all the demos in the palest color and TPed home to try them out. I finally decided on this one, Lily:
I'll need to live with it a bit to see if it works for me. Right now I'm thinking it's a bit too innocent-looking; I think it's the cheeks. I don't tweak my shape to go with skins, if the skins don't look right, I don't wear them. I kind of like this one, though.

Shape: My ownThe first skin I ever bought was a Charmed skin from Celestial Studios, and I've been true to those skins for my entire SLife. I tried on all of the auburn make-ups and bought several at full price, then when they had a sale awhile back, I tried them all on again and bought the rest of them. For awhile I tried on other skins, but I never liked any of them as much as I liked my Charmed ones, so I stopped even trying on any others, even free ones.
Then for some reason a couple of weeks ago I was poking around in my inventory and ran across a folder of skins from Peppermint Blue. I tried them on, and I'm kind of in love with this one. It's called "Another TA-L#1 Skin_RedThin_Party Red. I kept looking at myself in it, thinking I looked like someone, but couldn't figure out who. I finally figured out that it's the sister-in-law on "Jon and Kate Plus 8." The redheaded sister-in-law that babysits the kids sometimes. {shrug}

]]>I've been away from SL for awhile; I see that I haven't posted here since August. I missed Halloween completely, but I didn't want to miss Christmas, so I'm back. When I checked out of SL at the end of the summer, I gave up my house, and closed my shop. My friend Nissa let me crash as her place while I was homeless, but I missed having a place of my own. So one of the first things I did was look around for a place to live. I found a very reasonable apartment. It doesn't have a lot of available prims, so I can't really decorate as much as I'd like, but it's sufficient for my purposes right now.
I'm back.
This was my entry in the Second Spaces Design Contest. I created a hotel room in Venice, looking out over the canals.
I didn't expect to win, and I didn't, but I was kind of disappointed anyway. You had to stay within 200 prims, which wasn't a problem, and under L$1,000, which was. I used a lot of free things, but still ended up having to remove one of the suitcases (a train case, actually) to get under $L1,000.
This was the first contest of any kind that I'd entered in SL, I think. And like anything, the judging on a contest like this is always subjective. Maybe I'll try something like this again sometime, although I kind of hate that I spent that much money on stuff that I didn't really need. My own home is mostly an oriental theme, black and red, but who knows? Maybe I'll change the decor sometime and go with my Venetian hotel room furniture. :)
